Autumn: The Perfect Time for Synthetic Grass Landscaping

Monday, September 30th, 2013

With the dog days of summer behind us, and winter out on the horizon, autumn’s the perfect time to install a new artificial lawn or replace existing sod turf with synthetic grass like NewGrassTM.

If you’re a homeowner, you’ll have the project finished and be enjoying a lush, green, natural-feeling lawn before the first snow falls — and you’ll continue to enjoy right through winter.

If you’re a landscaper or you install sod lawns, you can mitigate the traditional pre-winter business slump by offering your customers the option of a quality artificial grass.

Even if you don’t live in a cold climate, or if you don’t install sod grass in an area that suffers wintry weather, autumn’s still a great time to consider the benefits of synthetic lawn. Many parts of the country, for example, continue to offer rebates year-round for homeowners who replace turf grass with synthetic lawn. Several California water districts, including Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, still have rebates available.

But don’t delay until spring to take advantage of these programs (or, if you’re an installer, to use them as a promotional tool). Many water districts that offer rebates year-round offer them on a first come, first served basis. If you wait, you’ll not only be wasting water in the meantime, your water district’s use up its budget for the rebates before you apply.

The SoCal Water$mart program for 2013-14 — which includes Los Angeles — started July 1, and it’s necessary to apply for your rebate before you start your installation, if you want the rebate approved. The application requirement makes it even more important to consider starting your project now.

Below are the water districts that participate in the SoCal Water$mart program and authorize rebates to homeowners who replace turf grass with synthetic lawn. If your water district’s not on this list — no matter where you live in the United States — contact you water district about rebates they might offer.
