Thursday, June 5th, 2008

Movie and a Makeover on TBSFort Worth, Texas – NewGrass® synthetic lawn has again proven to be the perfect solution for a unique landscape challenge, this time helping transform a barren downtown rooftop into an attractive outdoor living space for the TBS television show Movie & A Makeover.

The Movie & A Makeover episode featuring NewGrass® artificial grass airs on TBS this Saturday, June 7, at 12:45 p.m. ET.

Every week, Movie & A Makeover features family-oriented movies and all kinds of makeovers. The projects range from fashion and beauty tips to dramatic home and garden projects, like the one this Saturday. Jungle2Jungle is the movie that will accompany the makeover of an Atlanta rooftop that includes NewGrass®.

During the episode, host Mia Butler and designer Brian Patrick Flynn work their makeover magic on an Atlanta rooftop. The space goes from being empty, industrial and uninviting to being comfortable, green and attractive outdoor entertaining center. In fact, it becomes a space the whole neighborhood will use.

“Synthetic grass on a rooftop is the perfect way to evoke a park-like outdoor feeling ten stories up in the heart of downtown,” Flynn said. “Brands such as NewGrass® are self-draining, fade-resistant and require no maintenance. So you get the look and feel of fresh cut lawn without all the hassle.”

NewGrass® is the artificial grass of choice when being water-wise and environmentally conscious are as important as adding year-round outdoor living space to a home or commercial property. It is certified 100% eco-friendly, from the way it is manufactured to the company’s pledge to recycle at no cost to the customer at the end of the product’s useful life.

NewGrass® has been featured on Bob Vila and Fine Living TV’s American Shopper, and will soon be featured in a special “green” episode of Designing Spaces.

NewGrass Unveils Certified 100% Eco-Friendly Commitment

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Fort Worth, Texas – With major new initiatives that improve its products and enhance customer care, NewGrass® has strengthened its commitment to being green in every sense of the word.

NewGrass®, the artificial grass solution when water conservation and being environmentally conscious are as important as having a green lawn year-round, is now Certified100% Eco-Friendly. From the way its synthetic lawns are manufactured to the way they are ultimately recycled many years later, NewGrass® is acting on a promise to be a truly earth-friendly company.

The NewGrass® Certified 100% Eco-Friendly Pledge is being launched with three basic components: changes in the way NewGrass® is made and installed, actively supporting the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and pledging to properly recycle NewGrass® at the end of its life at no cost to the customer.

“NewGrass® has always been a water-conservation alternative, safe for children, wonderful for dogs and of course, never needed pesticides, so it’s always helped reduce ground water pollution,” said company President Greg Goehner. “But we believed we could do more. We want to offer an environmentally safe product and be more active as good stewards of the environment.”

Made with Renewable and Recycled Resources; Totally Recyclable
NewGrass® has a new backing that replaces over 90 percent of the oil-based compounds found on previous generations with bio-based compounds that are derived from domestically-grown soybeans – a renewable resource!

On the ground, the NewGrass® backing offers greatly improved drainage. This results in longer life for the backing, as well as for the grass blades and any infill. It also means faster and more consistent drainage, which is better for the aggregate base underneath a NewGrass® installation, as well as for the surrounding landscaping.

The blades of NewGrass® now incorporate post-consumer polyethyene. That makes them – and the entire product – 100 percent recyclable.

When it comes to installing its lawns, NewGrass® is now offering GreenFill, the only product developed specifically as infill for synthetic grass applications. GreenFill is a color-coated, clean and dust-free bead of environmentally safe and friendly silicon dioxide. Silicon dioxide is found naturally in various forms, including in quartz, opal, sand flint, and agate.

GreenFill’s unique coating clings to the tiny cracks in the silica and is chemically bonded to its surface. The result is an artificial grass infill that is very strong, sanitary, reusable and does not attract water (heightening its anti-microbial features).

The NewGrass® Carbon-Offset Pledge
For every square foot of NewGrass® installed, the company is making a donation to the Carbon Fund, a non-profit organization that is leading the fight against global-warming climate change.

These contributions further support the NewGrass® commitment to a safer, greener environment and the reduction of harmful carbon dioxide emissions. Donations help the Carbon Fund promote climate change education, carbon offsets and reductions, and public outreach. They also help NewGrass® actively reduce its carbon footprint.

In addition, every square foot of NewGrass® helps reduce carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. That’s because every NewGrass® installation means increased domestic soybean production, which in turn improves air quality by consuming carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

The NewGrass® Remove & Recycle Pledge
NewGrass® carries a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty. But if a customer ever wants to take up their NewGrass® lawn at the end of its useful life, the company will remove it free of charge for recycling.

NewGrass Accepted as U.S. EPA GreenScapes Alliance Ally

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Fort Worth, Texas – NewGrass® is proud that the U.S. EPA recently accepted it as an Ally in the agency’s GreenScapes Alliance.

Greenscapes Partnership

GreenScapes is a partnership program to help preserve natural resources and prevent waste and pollution. It encourages partner businesses, government agencies and other entities to make more holistic decisions regarding the use of the land, water, pesticides and energy.

GreenScapes promotes practices and products that meet consumers’ needs, but have better environmental profiles than current methods. NewGrass® synthetic lawn is exactly that kind of product, said company President Greg Goehner.

NewGrass® is the artificial grass of choice when water conservation and being environmentally conscious are as important as having a green lawn year-round. GreensScape’s goal is to help the public “find better yet flexible ways to conserve valuable natural resources, prevent pollution and be a voice for change in the industry.”

“NewGrass® is one of only a few synthetic grass companies to make this commitment,” Goehner said. “To us, being selected as an Ally with the EPA’s GreensScapes Alliance validates our commitment to being 100% eco-friendly.”

As a GreenScapes Ally, NewGrass® joins professional groups, trade associations, research organizations and product manufacturers or marketers nationwide working with their affiliated organizations to promote greater use of GreenScapes activities.

NewGrass Fescue™ and NewGrass Rye™ have been greatly improved, without any change in consumer pricing. NewGrass Premium Rye™ is a superior new lawn for the discerning customer.

NewGrass Network Expands into North Central Texas

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

Fort Worth, TX. – NewGrass® is excited to announce its expansion in North Texas, an area that continues to face water restrictions while enduring an annual weather cycle that moves between scorching summer heat waves and icy winter cold snaps.

Synthetic Grass Pros, based in Lewisville, Texas, is the latest Authorized NewGrass® Installer. Sitting northwest of Dallas, Lewisville is part of the sprawling Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

Synthetic Grass Pros has its eye on the entire North Texas region … and beyond, said company President Tim Dvorak.

“We know there’s a lot of interest here in finding options to natural sod turf for a lot of reasons,” Dvorak said. “NewGrass® is the perfect answer, whether it’s to do the right thing to protect our water supply and environment, or to add more living space to your home year-round.”

Like most of America, Texas loves its green lawns.

“We have this old habit. We’re programmed to believe we need to have a perfectly green lawn, and we’re killing our environment trying to do that,” Dvorak said. “The pesticides, the fertilizers, the mowing, the watering.”

“We’re proud to offer NewGrass® as an alternative to natural sod grass for all the right reasons,” Dvorak said.

Kimberly Van Buren, Synthetic Grass Pros sales director, said one of the biggest reasons she’s excited about selling NewGrass® is the opportunity to give North Texas homeowners more usable outdoor living space year-round.

“After the heaviest rain, during the hottest and driest months of summer, you have a yard to enjoy,” Van Buren said. “In areas of the yard where natural sod grass just doesn’t take no matter how hard you try, that’s where NewGrass® really is a winner.”

Photographers Choose NewGrass® for Natural-Looking Studio Lawn Year-Round

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

Fort Worth, TX. – Professional photographers from coast to coast say that NewGrass® artificial lawn is the perfect choice for an easy-to-use, no muss, no fuss, natural-looking outdoor setting in the studio year-round.

Commercial portrait studios as far apart as Rhode Island and California, and stylists with Neiman Marcus and JC Penney, have chosen NewGrass® for their studio work.

“It’s great stuff for photography, and I’ve tried a lot of different options,” said Jeffrey Alexander, whose Alexander Imaging in San Francisco specializes in children’s portraits.

NewGrass® is often chosen over natural turf because in most regions of the country, photographers simply don’t have access to a dependable supply of soft, green sod grass in the middle of winter.

“I’m shooting portraits for Easter and spring now, in the middle of winter,” Alexander said. ”I need something that looked fairly real. soft, lifelike, and green.”

Sometimes, NewGrass® is the preferred choice after photographers have tried other artificial materials, including other kinds of synthetic grass. Alexander said that theatrical grass, for example, looked too fake in close-up photography.

Then there’s the ease of handling NewGrass compared with natural sod for studio photographers. It doesn’t require the water, trimming and maintenance of sod grass under the harsh lights of a studio. It’s stays looking fresh longer than natural grass and it’s easier to “fluff” during a shoot than natural grass, and you can pick it up and store it.

Jay Williams, a stylist for Neiman Marcus in Dallas, needed green grass for a spring-themed children’s clothing shoot recently. He found NewGrass through an Internet search.

“It worked out great.” Williams said. “I needed something quick. First, NewGrass was able to get me the product right away. We pitched tents on top of it. We had a great time. It was a hit.”

“Now,” he said, “it’s rolled up and in my garage. Easy.”

NewGrass Offering 7,500 Square Feet of Fescue at Rock-Bottom Price as Part of Make-a-Wish Contribution

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

BUCKEYE, Ariz. – When Arizona dogs and their owners competed recently in a unique competition to support the world-famous Make-A-Wish Foundation, many of them enjoyed the nicest competition surface they’ve ever had, thanks to NewGrass®.

Now, customers can buy all or any part of the 7,500 square feet of NewGrass Fescue™ used at the three-day event at 25 percent below its retail price. And all of the proceeds will go to Wags for Wishes Arizona.

The Fescue was used to cover an important section of the competition area for the first-ever Wags for Wishes Arizona fund raiser.

Scottsdale-based NewGrass distributor STC installed the lawn for free. Wags for Wishes “rented” the expanse of Fescue at a special discounted rate of $2.99 per square foot. NewGrass Fescue™ retails for $3.99 per square foot. (This does not include installation costs, which are charged separately by authorized NewGrass installers and distributors.)

Now, NewGrass is selling the 7,500 square feet of lawn used at the event at that same discounted price of $2.99 per square foot. All of the proceeds will go to Wags for Wishes to help recoup the cost of the lawn, explained NewGrass president Greg Goehner.

“This is a win-win-win,” Goehner said. “We get to support a truly wonderful cause. The dogs got a great field to compete on. And, we hope, several new customers will benefit when they get they the used grass at such low a cost.”

The arrangement came about thanks to volunteer event director Wendy Hultsman, a local dog trainer and NewGrass® customer.

Hultsman has 6,900 square feet of NewGrass® installed in her backyard training facility.
“It’s a great lawn,” Hultsman said. “The dogs love it. It stays fresh. I wouldn’t have anything else for my yards. No dirt in the house. It looks fantastic, I can do any sport I want on it, and it’s easy to maintain!”

Specifically for Wags for Wishes, Hultsman said New Grass® provided a smooth surface for sports that require more exacting surfaces than the undressed field at Empty Acres Equestrian Center could offer.

“It proves that NewGrass® holds up to high traffic, in the flyball competition for example, and in twisting and turning events, like the Frisbee and DiscDog competitions.”

The Make–A-Wish Foundation grants wishes to terminally ill children. Wags for Wishes competitions are held throughout the country to support that mission.

The shows are unique and probably the most comprehensive dog shows anywhere. They offer entries for show quality, performance and pet quality dogs. And in addition to the usual categories of agility, competition can include disk catching, dock jumping, herding, flyball, lure coursing, obedience and terrier events.
